We are not responsible for creating this very unprofessional finish but were called in to conceal the damage due to a leak. This ceiling had to be re-taped, patched and retextured before the previous faux finishers work could be matched. We are experienced in all sorts of general contracting which can save money in hiring one contractor to take care of an entire repair job.
   
Plaster finishes are not immune to problems caused by drywall.
Extra care must be taken in matching the colors of a Venetian and other plaster finishes. The layering process used in creating todays popular plaster finishes creates an three dimensional optical effect that when viewed from different angles registers in a wide variety of hues and values. Anyone who has ever tried to repair plaster finishes has encountered the problem where even if the same exact product and colors are used the patch always stands out and is often seen as being a bigger eyesore than the original damage. Many other faux finishing companies will refinish entire walls to avoid this but the owner of Faux Finishing LA has been repairing these finishes for several decades and can blend even small patches to match rather than the more costly repair of entire walls. He has developed a unique process of custom tinting the plaster product and while drying other layers of custom tinted glazes are applied and manually blended in enabling a seamless fade into the existing surroundings. In most cases a stippling effect is then added to further conceal any fluctuations in value.
Then if needed an accurate match of the wax or other protective coats can be made.

Soft and subtle finishes like this amateurish suede are more difficult than ones with more movement and colors but the owner has over 30 years of experience in matching and blending many styles of finishes.
 
Although this second photo is blurred you can see that not only matching color takes great skill but it is important to get the gloss to match and blend. Sometimes glosses can dull with age but we carry the materials to mix the correct gloss from a high gloss to flat to create a perfect invisible blend essential to any repair job.
   
Even if the homeowner no longer has the original paints we are experienced in matching all sorts of exotic colors. This bathroom had a yellow foundation on one wall and a bright orange on the opposite. After matching the drywall texture a sample board was used to custom match both foundation colors then a glaze was tinted to create a seamless blend.
 
This first photo is a patch on some Venetian Plaster that was repaired by someone else but the owner of this property was dissatisfied by the results so we were brought in because of our expertise in repairing and blending plaster finishes.
